Saint Jean d'Aulps is part of the famous Portes du Soleil Ski Area.
Saint Jean d'Aulps is a modest, picturesque region, situated at the foot of Roc d'Enfer mountains. This cosy commune is nestled between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva. In the Winter, Saint Jean d'Aulps is a popular tourist attraction due to the connection with the Portes du Soleil ski area. This is suited for skiers of all disciplines, however for experienced skiers there are 40 km of pistes. The forest circuit (Roc d’Enfer) offers a rare, 20 km exploit in and around the commune. A free shuttle bus also brings people from the village to the skiing area.
However to enjoy the full Portes du Soleil ski area, Morzine is only a 10 minute drive away! Or there is a shuttle bus from the town centre to Morzine and Les Gets in Winter.
The ski area opens from 19th December 2015 to 3rd April 2016 (conditions allowing). There are 24 slopes (4 green, 10 blue, 9 red and 1 black). Saint Jean d'Aulps contains 1 cable car, 4 chairlifts and 10 button-lifts. Access by snowscoot allowed on the gondola lift, La Terchette skilift and le Torchon chairlift.
